City of East Point Wins Planning Grant for Headwaters Corridor

The ARC's Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP) awarded the City of East Point a significant grant for a study of the Willingham Drive/Central Avenue corridor. These busy streets connect the downtowns of the Tri-Cities, through the industrial core of East Point. The corridor touches historic neighborhoods in College Park, Hapeville, and East Point, plus the urban headwaters of two rivers!

The goal of this study is "to reimagine the Central Avenue and Willingham Drive corridors in a way that complements and connects the surrounding neighborhoods, while incorporating green infrastructure to help restore the headwaters of the Flint River."

We worked with the Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance to pull together this winning grant application with the city of East Point, and the cities of Hapeville and College Park immediately came onboard with funding for the local match. This is truly a collaboration of Finding the Flint partners and we are celebrating the news!
